Factory Reset strikes again!

South’s improv/sketch team, Factory Reset, had its latest show, “Dear Diary,” on Dec. 15. The improvisers and sketch writers worked very hard to make the show come together. They played games like Playground Insults, Emotion Quadrant, and even Mega Replay. The team also wrote sketches around the theme “Dear Diary.” These sketches were performed at the beginning of the show, the end of Act 1, and the beginning of Act 2.

We heard from some of the improvisers who performed at the last improv show.

Senior Jax Walker, who has been on the improv team for 3 years said, “the best thing about it is the fun people I get to surround myself with.”

Sophomore Leila Chettfour joined the team second semester of last year.

“I love being able to have fun with the people there while becoming better at improv,” she said.

Practices usually happen once a week on Tuesdays until the show week, where the team practices as much as they can to get ready for their upcoming show.

When asked if they would recommend people to audition for Factory Reset, junior Jackson Sawyer said, “if you want to do improv, theater, or are curious about anything relating to that, there’s never any harm in just auditioning, so yes, I would really recommend it.”

Walker agreed with Sawyer.

“I would definitely recommend it for others, especially those who are good team players and are creative,” he said.

But Factory Reset isn’t so easy. Improv can oftentimes be a hard craft to learn. Chettfour said the hardest thing was “getting over the nerves of it all.”

“The hardest thing about is, for me, coming up with a new, original, and interesting character every single time I do a scene,” Sawyer said.

Audrey Vineyard, a senior and her third year on the team expressed why she chose to audition for Factory Reset her sophomore year.

“It just looked really fun, and I’m really glad I did it because I gained a lot of experience and skills from doing it,” she said.

All in all, the Parkway South theatre department has been working tirelessly to have shows come together and be successful. The second and final Factory Reset show is scheduled for May 2. In addition, “Mean Girls the Musical” will be performed Feb. 7-10. Senior-Directed One Act auditions will take place on Feb. 12. Additionally auditions for the Factory Reset will take place on Feb. 26. Check the theater Google Classroom or ask Mrs. Forrest-James for any clarifying questions.
