If you’ve ever driven on Big Bend Road in Twin Oaks and noticed a place with a big chicken standing out right next to Dunkin’, that place is called Wing Snob. Not Wingstop. With not a lot of standard chicken places around the area, I decided to take a stand to see if it’s worth going in the future.
Wing Snob’s menu primarily includes chicken, such as wings, chicken sandwiches, chicken sliders, and chicken tenders. With great seasoned fries as a side included in many great sides such as corn bread, mac n cheese, onion rings, pretzel bites, and coleslaw as the major sides.
Wing Snob was first launched in 2017 by founders Jack Mashini and Brian Shunia, originating in Detroit, Michigan. The concept of this place was to be fast-casual, specializing in a variety of flavors, never frozen chicken wings, tenders, and sandwiches.
The brand distinguishes itself with a “snobby” approach to quality, focusing on fresh ingredients rather than frozen, and has expanded beyond Michigan into other U.S. states and Canada.
When I walked inside, it had a very modern, chill, and clean look. The workers were nice, and I can tell they were trying to be spot on with what I ordered, as the worker asked for many clarifications about what I was ordering.
The wings were overall solid. They were good in texture, and flavor. And again, the fries complement them perfectly, with how well seasoned and crispy they are. I also got sliders, but they forgot to put pickles on them.
All the food took around 20 minutes to get out, which isn’t terrible for the $80 my parents paid for the food. But they gave us one of the wrong flavors of wings we asked for. I ordered the Wing Snob’s signature “Awesome Sauce”, but they gave me honey mustard instead. My friends tried this place and they waited over an hour for their food, and they got less food than I did. So you never know how long it will take to get your food.
Wing Snob can be cost-effective–if you want a 2-piece Chicken Tender Combo, it is $9.99. That price is not bad but it’s not the best place to spend on food on a budget in my opinion. The 5-piece Tender Combo is $14.99. A 6-piece Boneless Chicken Combo is priced at $7.99–which is not terrible at all.
A plus side about this place is they have something called Fan Packs. This includes wings that can be boneless or not, fries, carrot sticks, and fountain drinks. This makes a perfect compliment for watching sports while having people over, making everyone happy. You have a choice of a 20, 30, 40, and 50 piece Fan Pack as you can get more fries, a variety of flavors for wings, and drinks for the more food you get. The 20 piece is $34.99 as the 50 piece is $69.99. Realistically, these aren’t bad prices but it is still a lot of money.
Another thing to mention is they never gave me the receipt. I wanted to check the receipt as one of the flavors of wings wasn’t what I ordered, but I couldn’t because they didn’t give me the receipt.
Overall, this place isn’t bad at all. The food was pretty good, atmosphere of the place was nice, and it’s a good location as Big Bend is a very busy road. But, there’s inconsistencies with time and some of my orders are wrong. I would say it definitely isn’t a bad place to try, but if you want some really good chicken, just go to Canes.
