The Grand Glaze library has become a crazy success throughout South High. Whether students are studying for a big test coming up, working on a group project, or checking out some of their new equipment to borrow, there is something for everyone.
There are a lot of benefits that come with visiting the Grand Glaize Library, according to junior Adi Apraschervu.
“I go to the library for the quiet environment that helps me study,” Apraschervu said.
Apaschervu also believes that many students use the library as a way to connect with other students from their class, while still getting work done.
“I like going to the library occasionally with people from my chemistry class. My favorite time to go to the library is right before I have a chemistry test because that’s when I need to study the most,” Apraschervu said.
Seeing familiar faces at the Grand Glaze Library helps improve the studying atmosphere, as seeing friends from other classes allows students to get real-time help after school hours, according to Apraschervu.
“When I visit the library, sometimes I see people from other classes I take or even the class I’m studying in, it always makes me happy because I can have someone who’s finished the work or understands it to help explain it to me,” Apraschervu said.
The library can have many uses, especially for students with tutors, according to senior Allison Gavornick.
“The study rooms are fun, but I also sit at the square tables during my tutoring sessions,” Gavornick said. “I also like the change of scenery from my room. It helps me stay focused when studying for tests or finals.”
Grand Glaize library employee Madelyn said she has noticed how important the library can be to students at the neighboring schools.
“This library is so significant to the schools around us. We have more materials for students than public school libraries. Our space is a lot more community and comfort-based,” Madelyn says.
According to Madelyn, the library doesn’t just attract high school students. There are many others who use the library’s resources, as well.
“Throughout a regular day, I’m usually asked about internet or technology help, which most wouldn’t expect. and the occasional book recommendations or help finding where a specific book is,” Madelyn said.
The library has a wide range of useful resources and equipment for the public to use, according to Madelyn.
“The library also includes many types of equipment available to the public to rent that you may not expect,” Madelyn said. “There are things such as fishing rods, GoPro kits, Pickleball kits, and more.”
The Grand Glaize Library has grown to become a very popular location for South students with its new, comforting, and upgraded space. According to Gavornik, the next time students are studying for a big test, they should consider the library as a resource to help them succeed.
“I really like the change of scenery from my room. It helps me stay focused when studying for tests or finals,” Gavornik said.
