Delmar Hall

St. Louis’ newest concert venue

Delmar+Hall

This fall, a new and very exciting music venue will be opening in The Loop. It will be called The Delmar Hall and will have a very small seating capacity at about 800. In comparison to other small venues in St. Louis, it will be slightly bigger than the Ready Room (4195 Manchester Ave, St. Louis, MO 63110)  but smaller than the Pageant (6161 Delmar Blvd. Saint Louis, MO 63112) which holds 2,000.

I am honestly so excited for this new venue. As far as i’m concerned, the more venues, the more opportunities for awesome concert experiences. The best thing about small venues is how you can go and see incredible up-and-coming artists in a much more intimate setting than say the Scottrade Center or the Hollywood Amphitheater where people like Taylor Swift and bands like Imagine Dragons would perform. While there are some awesome parts to large venues like booking huge artists and extremely awesome performances, small venues make you feel important and like an individual. Nothing feels better than having a personal conversation with one of your favorite artists at a place like the Firebird or the Ready Room.

The fact that the co-owners of the Pageant came together to create a new venue, is so exciting. It shows how the love of music and passion for live music can create things much bigger than ourselves. They are creating a venue even more intimate than the already considered small venue the Pageant for people like myself to enjoy.

Delmar Hall is meant to break ground this spring taking place of the Big Shark store that is near the Pageant. There will be $2.5 million worth of renovation for this 10,000-square-foot building. There will be two levels much like the Pageant with a box office and seating and standing area depending on the show.

By fall of this year, they suspect that Delmar Hall will be officially open. I think that opening yet another music venue for St. Louis will be an awesome addition, and it will truly flourish. Some people are questioning the idea of The Pageant, but I think that is impossible. The Pageant has so many things that Delmar Hall won’t have including the medium capacity. Lots of big names go to The Pageant, and it closing would be crazy.

Pictures of the up and coming venue have been released, and in my opinion it looks incredible. Lots of the other small venues look pretty sketchy like The Ready Room which is a legitimate garage in The Grove or The Firebird, which you can’t even tell is a music venue. From the looks of the pictures, The Delmar Hall will have glass walls and a fluorescent sign out front that says “Delmar Hall,” so it will definitely be easily spotted.

I am hoping that the new venue will be a huge success and will stay around for many musicians to perform at over the next many years. St. Louis is an incredible city and for the music lover that I am, an awesome music city.
