How many years have you taught at South?: 18 years

Plans for retirement: Travel more often to France, visit my brother in Thailand, and write a book about how my family lived through WWII in Normandy based on letters they exchanged and journals they wrote.

Classes taught at South: French 1, French 2, French 3, and AP French 4/5

What will you miss most about teaching?: Opening students’ minds to the rest of the world as they learn a language and about a new culture, the “Ah Ah” moments when students figure things out, and seeing how students grow when they become almost fluent in the language. I will mostly miss the connections we built over the years.

Favorite South tradition/event: I really like that South has so many clubs that allow students to discover and pursue interests outside of academics, but my favorite events are by far the plays and musicals here at South. The programs are always different, and the students put their heart into it and do a fantastic job.
