Love is in the air. Everyone buckle up for Valentine’s Day.
This Feb. 14 couples are getting ready to celebrate their love that they share together. On this special day flowers are bought and chocolates are given over a fancy dinner for two.
While a fancy dinner with a special date might be ideal for some, for high school students celebrating Valentine’s Day, there might be other ideas, including movie dates, a picnic (if it’s not cold), a Galentine’s Day outing for single girls, and many others.
For more student-friendly Valentine’s Day ideas, several students had plans to share what to do for a fun day with loved ones.
Senior Tyler Fesenmeyer, who has been in a relationship for over a year, said he is doing Valentine’s Day a little different this year due to his girlfriend’s schedule.
“My girlfriend will be out of town on Valentine’s Day for a softball tournament, but we’re planning on going out after Valentine’s Day. We’ll probably go to the Twisted Tree,” Fesenmeyer said.
Fesenmeyer believes his favorite part of Valentine’s Day is the simplicity and the time spent together that the holiday brings.
“Spending time together because you can show your loved ones how much you love them. It doesn’t take much for someone to celebrate it,” Fesenmeyer said.
Senior Kimyata Royal is a single girl this Valentine’s Day, but she is still making the most of this special day with friends.
“I’m doing a Galentine’s Day party with my friends. We’re going to do everything at my house,” Royal said. “We’re planning on baking cookies and decorating them, and then we’ll watch a Rom Com while doing arts and crafts. We’re going to make heart banisters, and it will be a sleepover. (Friday night) Saturday morning, we’ll go out to breakfast.”
Junior Kyle Holmes plans to spend Valentine’s Day with his girlfriend. Holmes thinks Valentine’s Day is a great way to show people how much you care about them.
“I’m planning on taking her to Red Robin and then going to watch a movie,” Holmes said. “I think that Valentine’s Day is important because you’re showing your love and appreciation for people you care about in your life, and it’s really good.”
Junior Therese Bathgate had many possible ideas for a fun Valentine’s Day.
“You could cook dinner for someone at home, you could go on a hike, watch movies, get coffee, or just hangout with friends if you’re single,” Bathgate said.
