With the fall sports season in full swing the girls cross country team is ready to run. With 45 girls led by a remarkable senior class, both in running ability and academics, the girls are ready to impress.

P.E. and health teacher Matt Roach is the girls head coach this year.

“I’m impressed with this years’ team however I’m worried since we are in the toughest district with other schools such as Lafayette and Eureka. We have lots of really good girls returning and some who are brand new hoping to be a big part of our team,” he said.

Roach said the girls are hoping to make a big impact against other schools when they go to meets.

“To be the best, you need to be able to beat the best,” said Roach.

Returning varsity runner Katherine Franz said she has high hopes for her team this year as well.

“We have a lot of potential to do well as a team because together we worked hard to be better this upcoming season,” said Franz.

One girl hoping to make a really positive impact on the girls cross country team is senior Anna McMiller. Prior to this year she had only run track, but this year decided to run cross country.
