History of Parkway South

Times come and go, but Parkway South has stood head over heals since 1976.  Hair styles coming and going, new fashion trends, and new technological devices has made the century what it has come to be today in 2015.  

As we go back in time to 1976 major events have happened that has shaped the United States today.  In 1976, the 38th president of the United States, Gerald Ford, was elected into office with his vice president at his side, Nelson Rockefeller.  

January 11th, 1976 marked a huge event in history in the sporting category.  The Philadelphia Flyers stepped on the ice to play the Red Soviet Army in hockey and soon ended with a quick lose for the Soviet Army after they walked off the ice with a score of 4-1 in the Flyers possession.   

As we finish up the 2015 calendar year you may notice that the population has increased by the hundred-thousands.  In 1976, the population of the United States was 218,035,164, and now in 2015 the most recent updated census was recorded at 320.09 people.  

Your household appliances have evolved since the late 70’s from televisions, styles of housing, new job opportunities etc. are now newly improved.  Living in the 1970’s was a lot different then as it is now in 2015.  

Social media has made a huge impact on how Parkway South has evolved as a school.

You have Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Amazon etc. that has helped improve the technology of the 21st century.  

The new social media across the county has brought you friends closer and closer to each by simply clicking on one of the apps and checking someone’s status or just simply looking at your Instagram feed.   

Parkway South has evolved itself as not by just a community by how it has improved as a school.  

“I’ve been at Parkway South since I was a freshman.” said junior, Ginny Dalton.  “I have so many memories including making varsity field hockey as a freshman. I also remember all the fun memories that I made with my friends and the memories that I will soon get to develop in my last two years at South.”

“I’ve been working at Parkway South for 37 years.” said Bookstore Clerk, Mrs. King.  “I’m currently on my 38th year and every year I look forward to seeing new faces walking into school every single day.”   

Students at Parkway South now have the chance to participate in many events during the school year that includes, Special Olympics, Homecoming Parade, Spirit Week, and many more events.

2015 has been a successful year for not just Parkway South but for the United States itself.  In 2015 gas prices has significantly have risen and fallen, house prices have gone up drastically.  Also in 2015 the U.S. dollar is making a huge change.  President Barack Obama is considering putting famous female figures on the U.S. twenty dollar bill. Some women include: Civil Rights Activist Rosa Parks, Feminist writer Betty Friedan, the first black Congresswoman, Shirley Chisholm and many more female famous figures.  On April 13th  Hillary Clinton announces her run for the Democratic nomination in the 2016 presidential election , the first major Democrat to announce a campaign.  And on August 6th the first presidential debate started.  

Parkway South has brought many good times to the community and will soon to have bigger and better ideas to help expand the educational atmosphere for everyone to share.
