As of the 2025-26 school year, South Serves will be a biennial event. However, some may be asking, “How can I still contribute to my community?”
“Anyone can join, the more the merrier!” according to Parkway South’s math teacher, Anne Erehart. Erehart is the main organizer who runs South Serves.
“We want to help our community, especially without South Serves this year. We want people to try and help with some of the events we run.” Says Junior Brianna Clifton, a student representative for the service team.
The service team meetings are hosted by Erehart during Ac Lab in room 1707 for one module.
“It’s never too late to join,” says Erehart. “You can come to any of the meetings, even if you did not go to the first or second one.”
“Helping people around the community makes me happy because it reminds me of helping my dad,” says Erehart. Many people who contribute to South Serves also feel this way about helping their community.
“These events are really fun, not just because you get to hang out with friends, but you are also helping the community.” Says Junior Elise Marx, a member of the Service team.
The Parkway South service team hosts numerous events, including the Rake and Run and the Color Run, both of which aim to benefit the community.
“Anyone can go to these events; you do not have to be in the service team to go,” Marx says. “The Rake and Run is coming up this fall, November 12 at 12:30, and the Color Run normally happens around April.”
“During the Rake and Run, you run around with your friends raking elderly people’s lawn,” says Erehart. “It’s coming up soon, so make sure you add it to your calendar!”
Contributing to the service team is a great way to give back to the community, so sign up, and give back.
