Hamburger lovers rejoice! A new option just opened for you.

A new Shake Shack opened Dec. 21 on Manchester Road in Des Peres. Since their grand opening, the restaurant has become a new hangout spot for students. Although there are other Shake Shack locations all around St. Louis, this is the first time there’s been one so close to South High. Shake Shack serves burgers, shakes, and fries; everything to fufill our cravings. This location is to be one of the few locations with a drive-thru.

“I work there as a drive thru coordinator. I basically check if the orders are accurate, and I put the orders into the bags,” he said.

Besides the drive thru, this Shake Shack isn’t too different compared to the others. It has the same modern architecture and similar interior design. 

Some students can agree that this Shake Shack is pretty average compared to the rest.

“The new one messed up our order and we had to wait a long time for our order,” junior Sofi Maloney said. “The other locations taste better, but since its newer I can understand that they probably don’t know how to make it correctly.” 

This Shake Shack is located off Manchester near Trader Joe’s and Panera. This location replaced the Hunan Star Chinese restaurant. Adding on, since the locations opened a handful of students I’ve interviewed reported that their orders were messed up, like Maloney’s. Hopefully, as they move forward the workers will get a handle on things. 

“When I went with my friend who’s vegan they accidentally gave her fries with bacon on them. Thankfully though I had regular fries so we just traded,” junior Makenna Roher said. 

Holmes said he likes working at the new Shake Shack.

“I really enjoy working there. The pay is great, and I genuinely enjoy the environment. I have worked in fast food before but have never been in an environment like Shake Shack where my coworkers are so nice and I genuinely enjoy the job,” he said.
