“Spiderr”–Bladee
The cover of Bladee’s “Spiderr,” features a satirical drawing by artist Sathyan Rizzo, depicting Bladee with a comically fit physique holding a spider up. Recorded under the label “YEAR0001,” the album throws it back to the Swedish rapper’s early work. With his more recent albums being generally guitar and synth focused, they fell more into the category of dream pop and indie than rap. His new album, however, is a perfect representation of the Bladee who first made a name for himself in the rap/hyperpop scene, and will likely become a new fan-favorite. While still using angelic synth and harmonics in songs like “URIEL OUTRO,” and his original rap sound in songs like “Velociraptor,” ”Bladee’s new album is true to his unique sound and the components of the rap group “Drain Gang.” Bladee’s large vocal range and excellent pitch comes out with top of the line producing by artists Whitearmor, Gud, and Joakim Benon. All in all, “Spiderr” is an attest to Bladee’s greatest past work, summing up his signature sound in one no-skips album. I rate this album an 8.5/10.
