What is it like teaching classes here at Parkway South? “Nothing new tbh, just more focused on student success.”
When you’re not teaching, what do you like to do?“I coach…a lot. I also love to go to the St Louis Row Club when I can to see my daughter row.”
Where did you receive your teaching education from? “Lindenwood University”
Why did you want to become a teacher? “To make lasting connections and help be a positive light in students’ lives.”
How did you prepare for the beginning of the school year? “I had very little time tbh, so I bought a bunch of soft lights, bribed my kid to help, and tried to catch up on sleep.”
What is your favorite part of teaching your subject? “When I can see F’s turn into C’s and B’s.”
What are you most looking forward to this school year? “That 1st snow day phone call.”
Have you taught anywhere else before, or is this your first-year teaching? If so, where did you teach prior? “I was a long term sub here last year in Social Studies.”
Why did you choose to come teach at Parkway South? “I live close, I coach here, and my daughter goes here.”
If you could teach any other subject, what would you choose and why? “Art. I’m actually a decent artist, and love the process of creating.”
What has been your biggest challenge with teaching? “Student Teaching through a pandemic and on zoom was so weird. I feel that I still don’t really know how to teach, but in my role I get to learn how all teachers teach.”
Who has been your biggest support through the beginning of your teaching journey? “My wife and kid. If it was someone here at South- Mr Weiss, Coach Evers and McFarland. Without those guys I wouldn’t even be at South.”
Do you have anything else to add? “I love this school, the kids and administrators and…. GO PATRIOTS!”
