Emma Ries, junior
How many other Emmas are normally in your classes?
¨I think there is normally at least me and another Emma. Like in my Spanish class there is me, Emma Wasielewski, and Emma Kauffman. But normally it’s either just me or me and another Emma. It’s not super common even though there are so many of them.¨
Have you ever been confused for another Emma?
¨I don’t think I have ever been confused for another Emma specifically.¨
Do you wish you had a more unique name?
¨Sometimes just because it’s so common and I think it’s kind of boring but I also think having a unique name would be hard because of mispronunciation. People never mispronounce my name.¨
Would you ever change your name?
¨I did when I was little just because I think I thought it was so boring and I knew other people with that name but now I don’t think I would just because it’s what my parents wanted to name me.¨
Do you know why you were named Emma?
¨My grandma had only one sister and four brothers and her name was Emma so I am named after her.¨
How does it feel to have the most common name in South?
¨I mean I think it’s kinda funny just because I feel like there’s a lot of Emmas but I only know a few but obviously there are a lot more than I know. So I think it’s just kind of funny that there are so many people with the same name.¨
What’s your favorite thing about your name?
¨I actually do like how short it is just because I feel like with long names like it just becomes a lot harder when I’m constantly writing it on paper and stuff. It’s just a lot easier I think.¨
