Enjoy belting out a tune in the shower? Love karaoke with your friends? Well, you might want to participate in South Sings. Parkway South Choir’s first annual South Sings event is tomorrow at 2 p.m.

South Sings is open for all ages, from little kids to adults. Anyone can listen along with the choir playing different songs.

“We want to get 5th graders and adults to get involved,” said choir teacher Connor Scott.

This is Scott’s second year at South and he plans to have South Sings annually.

“Kids shouldn’t be worried about getting stage fright,” he said. “Everyone gets stage fright to some degree even if you are the best performers.”

Scott said teachers have been spreading the word of South Sings for the last couple of weeks.

“Word of mouth, poster campaign, and social media. Tell your kids to bring friends!” Scott said.

Scott said he is expecting from 100-150 people to show up tomorrow afternoon.

Senior Abbie Edmundson is a member of the choir and will be there tomorrow.

“The choir plans to have this event every year, and it would be a good idea to get people from all ages involved in the community,” Edmundson said.

Senior Grace Erickson is also participating.

“We hope to bring the community and put on a great concert,” she said.

Erickson started singing in a choir in 5th grade but really got into choir in middle school and has loved every moment of it, except still sometimes gets stage fright.

“When I perform solos, but not when I sing with the whole choir,” she said.

Erickson said she hopes to have around 120 people at the concert.

“It’ll probably be more kids than adults because teachers have been pushing the word to come out to South Sings and listen to a great concert with great people,” Erickson said.
