If you ever watched Dragon Ball Z on Cartoon Network as a kid and liked it you’ll love the new stuff they’re coming out with. After a long hiatus, The creators of Dragon Ball Z have come out with a show, Dragon Ball Super and many movies to go along with it. One of the best and most thorough movies they have come out with is Dragon Ball Super: Broly. This movie came out in November and has a run time of 1:41. This movie is great for DBZ fans because they have always loved Broly’s Character and they finally brought him back.

The big draw of this movie is in the title: offering the first canon appearance of Broly, who fans first met in the 1993 movie Dragon Ball Z: Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan. Dragon Ball Super: Broly appropriately expands its title character’s backstory, offering necessary context for the hatred for his fellow Super Saiyans, Goku, and Vegeta.

The movie is an origin story of Broly who is a Saiyan just like Vegeta and Goku. Broly was sent of to another planet with his father before the Saiyans’ home planet was destroyed. In the movie he trains with his father for a long time fighting monsters on this strange planet getting stronger. Broly has trouble controlling his anger and animalistic behavior. Because of this he is forced to wear a shock collar to contain himself. After around 40 years on this planet he is picked up by the Frieza Force and they recruit him and his father. Frieza then wants to go to Earth to get the dragon balls to grow taller and Broly is brought along. Goku and Vegeta start fighting Frieza Force henchmen and Broly’s shock collar remote is broken. Broly gets mad and Starts Fighting Vegeta and Goku. Even super Saiyan blue is not good enough to defeat broly so they have to turn into Gogeta Blue and shoot a final beam to defeat him. Broly then returns to the planet he spent his life on and Goku is friends with him at the end

This movie is very good. The plot was well thought out and the execution is flawless. I love the animation, it looks very good. All in all I think the movie was very good and i would recommend watching it yourself. The box office for this movie worldwide was $102 million while the budget for the movie was only $8.5 million.
