How did you ask a girl out?
“I would’ve usually called her on the phone, but not like the phones you guys use. I would’ve had to call her on her corded phone that she shared with her family.”
How did you pick a girl up for a date?
“I would drive to her house, get out and go to the door. That usually involved meeting and shaking hands with her parents.”
How did you meet girls?
“Really only met girls at your school, or through a summer job if you had one.”
When did you meet her parents?
“Usually the first date.”
Who planned the dates?
“I always planned the dates.”
What dates would you usually take a girl on?
“Well BIG dates would be like Prom or Homecoming, but regular dates would be going to the movies, dinner or taking her to a show at a venue like the Fox.”
Who paid for the date?
“Me, always.”
What was date etiquette like?
-shake the girl’s dad’s hand
-talk to her parents
-walk her from the door, and back to the door
-open the car door
-pull her chair out
What would your first “move” be?
“Moving closer to her in your seat, or putting your arm around her.”
What was Valentine’s Day like?
We had Sadie Hawkins, the girls would send the guys roses the whole deal. Though if you were in a relationship you would just get a girl chocolate or flowers.”
