Murmuration
St. Louis’ new music, art, and science and technology festival
Starting September 23 of this year, the founder of Loufest, Brian Cohen, is co founding a new festival: Murmuration. While Loufest will continue September 10-11, Murmuration will be a three day festival September 23 through September 25. This festival will take place on the Cortex Complex in Midtown St.Louis and will consist of a wide variety of technology, science, music, and art.
Cohen recently sold his share of Loufest over to Listen Live Entertainment so that he could place his full focus onto Murmuration. Listen Live Entertainment is the company he founded back in 2010 to manage Loufest.
While some may be worried over the idea of Loufest ending, this in not a prominent concern or worry in the eyes of Listen Live Entertainment, Cohen, or myself. Loufest and Murmuration are two completely different ideas and festivals. Loufest will continue to be a costly music based festival while Murmuration will be a mostly free blend of science, art, technology, and music. Influential speakers and science related speakers will be attending to talk to the crowds. With Murmuration, musical performances will be determined based off how well they blend with the other aspects of the festival. I think this will be a very interesting aspect and I am extremely excited to see the outcome of who will be invited to perform.
I am wondering how they will incorporate science into the mix of it all. Maybe they will do some type of science shows or possibly have it set up similar to the Science Center. Science can be a really interesting topic if done correctly. I think if they base it off of the Science Center, it can be really cool. They need to take the science aspect and turn it around to be interactive and intriguing for all or else it could end up extremely boring.
As for pricing, there will be a range of ticket prices and such but there will also be free options to see performances and other areas of the event that will be free to the public. I think this will be incredible considering Loufest cost all the way up $350 for the VIP option.
Murmuration seems to be an incredible idea to me. I may be a huge fan of everything and anything music related, but I also resonate with the idea of science, art, and technology also being involved. Those three things are quite interesting to me and I think that it will be a huge success for Cohen and an incredible experience for myself and others.
I am not exactly sure how the music aspect will flow with the aspect of technology and science but I am sure they will figure it out. Whether they use some unknown holographic type of shows or they do more of an electronic genre of music, I think if they do it the right way, it can turn out to be really good and enjoyable.
