Junior Class President Ethan Wood

  1. Why did you decide to run for office?

I decided to run because it felt natural. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always enjoyed public speaking and strived for subsequent leadership positions. Why not offer my skills and perspectives for something greater? There’s no penalty for losing, but there is regret in not knowing.

       2. How did you feel when you found out that you won?

In one word: Elated! It was fulfilling to accomplish something I’d worked hard on, but frankly, I was just happy the election was resolved. Whatever the result, the anticipatory anxiety is what gets ya’

       3. What was the best part about campaigning?

The learning curve/experience. That includes a lot of regret on things I could have done better or sooner, but the knowledge, whether you win or lose, is the most valuable part.

       4. What are you planning to do in student government next year?

While I may have personal devotions of my own, our main goal is to amplify and resolve as many issues with South High as possible (citizen to representative relationship)! Whether that means taking it to the student body, principal, or potentially the school board, we’ll do the most possible with the power bestowed.

        5. How are you going to make South a better place?

Leading by example. Personality is as important, if not more, to policy. Presenting inclusive and competent leadership enshrines a good impression of the 2024 class, especially in light of recent events.
