Senior Class President Ben Nava

1. Why did you decide to run for office?

I wanted to run for office since early this school year because I thought it would be fun but I didn’t think I’d really have a good chance of winning until recently. Now that I’ve won, I’m excited to see what my cabinet can do to make the last year of high school fun.

2. How did you feel when you found out that you won?

I’m often paranoid in situations where I shouldn’t be but as soon as I got a pass to go see Dr.Wilhelm, I knew my team had won. The experience is close to the stars aligning, you’ve got to try it sometime. 

3. What was the best part about campaigning?

Definitely the social media aspect. It was fun editing videos and making posts about us to get the word out and receive feedback and support from peers.

4. What are you planning to do in student government next year?

Regarding student government and the decisions my cabinet will make, I plan on asking the community (focusing mainly on seniors since I’m specifically senior class) what they believe we should do next year for things like spirit days to events like prom. I would love to have everyone involved in some way.

5. How are you going to make South a better place?

Being vocal about issues that need to be addressed is a core that we will focus on. If we notice things that could be better or even as small as some quality of life changes, we will make suggestions to the board to implement changes or even change things ourselves if it’s within our power for the entirety of the school.
