Carolina Panthers

On February 7, the 15-1 Panthers got their season cut short by the Super Bowl MVP Von Miller and the Broncos. Miller forced two fumbles and one resulted in a touchdown to give the broncos a 10-0 lead. Cam Newton threw for 265 yards and lead his team in rushing yards with 45 yards. The Panthers could not get the run game going because of the amazing defensive line on the Broncos side.  But saying this on the offensive side the Panthers had 10 more first down and over 200 more total yards than the Broncos put up. However, despite the offensive performance, Carolina still ended up losing 24-10.

The 2015 NFL MVP was given to Quarterback Cam Newton because of his 3,837 passing yards and 35 passing touchdowns and 15 rushing touchdowns. Which added to 50 total touchdowns.

Senior Abby Seidler said he deserves it. “Yes by far! he was constantly the best in the league and was always gonna win it,” said Abby Seidler.

Newton put up those numbers even though he was missing his number one receiver, Kelvin Benjamin. Benjamin had a season ending tear in the preseason.

But saying this, Seidler said that she thinks he has a bright future. “Cam Newton is a promising young star that can put up these kind of number every season,” she said.

Next season the Panthers will be without one of the best defensive lineman, Jared Allen, to retirement because of all the injury problems he was dealing with all this season and during the Super Bowl. The Defensive line for the panthers is not their main concern in the offseason though. With Kwain Short and Ealy learning that line they will be fine the next few season.

Before the game I asked Michael Sniatkewitz which team has the best defence and which team has the best offence. “The Broncos defence is the best in the league and they will prove that in the Super Bowl when they take down the Panthers. But the Panthers offensive is the best because they have Cam Newton the best player in the league so it’ll be great,” Said Sniatkewitz.

Sniatkewitz was not wrong when he said it was going to be a good one the Panthers put up a fight and showed their offensive abilities but there was no way the Panthers could get pass Von Miller and the Broncos defensive.

The Super Bowl is not all about the game though, most people will only watch the game just to see the commercials or maybe go to a party. I asked Jake Launius what he was doing for the game and he said, “I hate both the teams in the Super Bowl I’ll just be watching to see the commercials and hope Manning gets his ring,” said Launius.

The commercials had a lot of highlights during the night. They had stupid ones like the Mountain Dew KickStart commercial with the “Puppy Monkey Baby,” when it just danced around and was singing a stupid song about it. Doritos did it again to save the day with the baby popping out to grab the Doritos from his dad’s hands and making all the Panther fans laugh and have a good time for a while. However, a lot of the commercials did disappoint again even though there was a few that would make anyone laugh.

Josh Crutcher was a loyal Panther fan found the loss very hard and will be hard to bounce back from but they know they will do it. “Panther might have lost this year but next year it’s there’s for the taking.” said Crutcher.
